Fatblog: 14st 4lb
Wow, so it’s been a while since I did a Fatblog. Since my last confession my weight has fluctuated a fair bit. I got down to 14st (196lb) toward late summer which made me more excited than I can describe! But then I guess I burned out a little and over the course of the last few months I slowly put on half a stone (7lb) until about three weeks ago, just after my birthday, when I knuckled back down again. Since then I’ve shaved 3lb off, bringing me to my current 14st 4lb (200lb).
What amazed me was how quickly a few things happened. Firstly, how quickly I dropped off the wagon. I had been going relatively strongly up to 14st and I told myself I deserved a short break. It didn’t take long at all to fall back into old (and expensive) habits. Calorific breakfasts and lunches, takeaways and booze. Secondly, How quickly falling off the wagon turned into a downward spiral. Taking a well-earned break and eating crap quickly descended into feeling like crap, which in turn made me feel like crap. Rinse and repeat. Thirdly, how quickly getting back on the wagon has made me feel better. I’ve only lost 3lb but it felt like I was carrying a bowling ball around. I was bloated and moody. After three weeks of relative good habits the bloat has gone, my mood has gone up and the positive spiral of seeing results and feeling good and eating well to keep making them happen has kicked back in hard!
Something I may have to start getting more involved with soon is body fat percentage. I’ve started doing some mild weights which, given my body’s predilection for brawn, means I’ve put a bit of muscle on. This means that although I have lost weight over the last few weeks, my remaining weight has reconfigured and my percentage body fat is actually slightly less than a few months ago, the last time I was 14st 4lb. I can see this in my face, which is just about as thin as it has ever been. If I carry on like this, getting mildly fitter and more toned, then my gross tonnage is not going to be as important as body fat percentage. There are several models of digital scales that can measure this, and soon I’m going to start looking to buy one. If you have recommendations then please let me know!
So anyway, yeah, I’m back on it, basically. Commencing Phase 2. The target for this is to get to 13st 7lb by the end of March, ideally hitting 14st in the end of January, accounting for Christmas. Then, Phase 3 will see me achieve or exceed 13st before August of next year. Next November will see me turn 35 and my plan is to celebrate it looking the best I have ever looked in my life!
