Brighton, Blood and Birthday
So I went down to Brighton a few days ago to meet up with my lovely friends Chris and Simon. Although we met up when they came up here to
letch over support Tom Daley during some diving championships a few months ago, it’s the first time I’ve been down there for four years and after all the recent upheaval in my life it was good to get down there and let my hair down a bit. Their hospitality was as ever generous and much more than I deserve and I had a lovely time which I sorely needed, so thank you very much my lovelies!
While we were out shopping and generally looking at boys I noticed that the box set of the first three seasons of True Blood had come down to something approaching a reasonable price. I know I’m way behind the times on this and I’ve heard good things for a long while and had every intention of getting involved, the drop in price (as well as the boys showing me choice clips) spurred me to purchase. Not only are there some phenomenal bodies on display but, I was pleasantly surprised to discover, it is genuinely well-made, well-written, funny and involving, and I’m watching three or four episodes a day during my week off to try and catch myself up. It’s possible that after I finish with book five of The Song Of Ice And Fire which I am currently ploughing my way through then I’m going to work through the book originals. In spite of the flood of piss-poor vampire/werewolf books of recent years these seem to be actually half-decent, and I love me a good vampire/werewolf, so that looks pretty much nailed on.
Finally, happy birthday to me on Friday! I have bought myself a beautiful spirit glass that shall be used in anger when I buy myself some Glenmorangie or similar (in small, bursts, obviously.) I also decided to start trying to write in my blog sheerly for the sake of writing something. I’ve been aching to do some creative writing recently but the muscles have severely atrophied and I need to start off small. Maybe next year I’ll be in a position to do NaNoWriMo but for the time being, it’s droney blog posts until I can do some heavier mental lifting.
