#BEDM14 Day 3 – Facebook Or Twitter?
TWITTER. All the cool kids are on Twitter.
I am so over Facebook, like I can’t even. I’m this close to closing my account. The only reason I haven’t is because loads of work stuff gets posted to a group on there that I kind of need to be aware of. Facebook has become a big, noisy room, mostly full of family members, people I work with or people I once went to school wanting to be friends, babbling inanities or pestering me for lives in fucking Candy Crush or whatever shitty scam game is currently filling the void in their lives.
Twitter is less than it was but for me it’s still the place where I only have to interact with those people who I choose to interact with, rather than people I have to pretend to like because I worked with them for a month once. If I like someone (or think they’re pretty) I can follow them, if someone starts talking shit, I can unfollow them. And vice versa, of course. Less drama, less politics. It’s whatever you want it to be, you mould it to your own tastes. The incomparable Matt Smith has written more succinctly about this topic than I and I know about him because of people I like on Twitter. I’ve met loads of people on Twitter than I want to meet in real life because they’re cool (this is one of my near-term life goals, actually). The same cannot be said for Facebook.
