#BEDM14 Day 24 – Lego or Meccano?
When I was younger I frigging LOVED me some Lego. I had one of the proper difficult Technic stuff. I’ve written before that I don’t have very many memories of my childhood; one of the ones I do have is me on a Friday night after watching Cheers or Golden Girls and whatever was on with my Mum downstairs, happily constructing my Lego Model Team Truck & Helicopter in my room while watching the late-night Channel 4 telly that was on back then, namely The Word, which should carbon date me quite accurately.
And thanks to the sheer awesomeness of geeks on the interwebs you may now behold the thing of beauty itself:
I bloody loved that thing. I built it and dismantled it and rebuilt it umpteen times, over a period of years. They were bloody expensive so I never got another as I think I got it one Christmas in one of the brief hiatuses between wanting games consoles. I’d have it back in an instant. I think I may have to get something similar soon. I need a project…
A secondary question on this topic is: ‘planes or trains?’ To which my answer is: well, I mean, some trains are cool; the Hogwarts Express or the Orient Express would be amazing to travel on, or a super-duper mag-lev one. But all planes are cool. All of them. From the humblest little twin-prop pond hopper to the most majestic passenger carrier to the most modern stealth fighter. They weigh tons and they go up in the air, for God’s sake!
